The problem with bread storage
Plastic sweats. Paper dries. Your loaf deserves better.
Homemade bread has no preservatives, so how you store it decides whether you're enjoying it on day three or throwing half of it away.
Plastic makes it sweat
Trapped steam turns a crackly crust soft and rubbery, and the damp bag is where mold starts.
Paper dries it out
Great for a few hours. By the next morning your loaf is “rock hard” and fit only for toast.
Tea towels & bread boxes
A towel does very little, and bread boxes hold onto crumbs and spores loaf after loaf unless they're scrubbed.
A beeswax-lined cotton bag sits in the sweet spot: it breathes, so the crust stays crisp, and the wax holds in just enough moisture to keep the crumb soft.
The 2-minute routine
How to keep a loaf at its best
The best bakers don't rely on the bag alone. Pair it with this routine and your bread keeps its crust and crumb for days, with less ending up in the trash.
Cool completely
Give it at least 2 hours, or overnight for sourdough. Steam trapped in a warm loaf is the #1 cause of soggy crusts and early mold.
Bag it cut side down
Place the loaf in the bag cut side down, pull the drawstring and tuck the top under.
Slice & freeze the rest
Won't finish it in 2–3 days? Slice it and put the bag in the freezer. Toast straight from frozen.
Wipe, dry, repeat
Between loaves, shake out the crumbs, wipe with cool water and air dry. It takes 30 seconds.
Eat within the first few days, and freeze the rest. Homemade bread has no preservatives, so no bag can stop mold forever. This routine gets you the most good days from every loaf.

FAQ
Questions, answered
How long will my bread stay fresh?
Honestly, it depends on your bread and your kitchen. Most homemade sourdough keeps a crisp crust and soft crumb for about 3–4 days in the bag. Enriched and soft breads are best within 2–3 days. Hot, humid kitchens shorten that. Follow the routine (cool completely, cut side down, then slice and freeze what you won't eat) and you'll get the most from every loaf.
Will it stop my bread going moldy?
No bag can promise that, and we won't pretend it can. Homemade bread has no preservatives. A breathable beeswax bag avoids the trapped, sweaty moisture that makes bread in plastic mold fastest. But the real fix is the routine: cool the loaf fully, eat it within a few days and freeze the rest.
How big are the bags?
Each bag is about 13" wide × 17" long, extra-large. It fits a big round boule, a long batard or a full sandwich loaf. The bowl cover is about 13" across and stretches over most mixing and proofing bowls.
What are they made of?
Natural cotton on the outside, lined with pure beeswax, organic jojoba oil and food-grade tree resin. No plastic, and food-safe. The wax may have a faint, natural honey smell when new. That fades with use.
How do I clean them?
Shake out the crumbs, then wipe or hand-wash in cool water with a little mild soap. Turn the lining out and air dry. No hot water, dishwasher, microwave or dryer, because heat melts the beeswax.
Can I put them in the freezer or fridge?
Yes. They're freezer-safe, which is the best place for bread you won't eat within a few days. We don't recommend the fridge for bread, because it goes stale faster there, but the bags themselves are fine in it.
Can I mix designs in a bundle?
Yes. Choose 2 or 3 sets and pick a design for each one. The bundle price ($64.99 for 2 sets, $84.99 for 3) applies automatically in your cart.
